This homemade Bang Bang Sauce is a quick mayo-based sauce with sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and hot sauce. Use it as a dip, drizzle, or spread for fried fish, chicken bites, shrimp, tacos, fries, and sandwiches.

Why You'll Love This Sauce

This sauce is quick, creamy, and full of flavor. It is inspired by the popular Bang Bang Sauce from Bonefish Grill, but this homemade version is easy to make in your own kitchen.

Once you make it, you'll find plenty of ways to use it, from crispy chicken and fried fish to shrimp, tacos, fries, and sandwiches.

It is sweet, spicy, and rich without being complicated. You only need a few pantry ingredients, and you can make it mild or hot depending on how much sriracha and hot sauce you add.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • Hot sauce, to taste

How to Make Bang Bang Sauce

  • Add the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and a few drops of hot sauce to a small bowl.
  • Whisk until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  • Taste and adjust the heat. Add more sriracha or hot sauce if you like it spicier.
  • Cover and chill until ready to serve.

What Does Bang Bang Sauce Taste Like?

Bang Bang Sauce is creamy, sweet, and spicy. The mayonnaise gives it a rich, smooth base. The sweet chili sauce adds sweetness and a little garlic flavor. The sriracha brings the heat.

It is not too hot as written, but it has a nice kick. For a milder sauce, use less sriracha. For a hotter sauce, add extra hot sauce.

How to Use Bang Bang Sauce

Bang Bang Sauce works as a dip, drizzle, or sandwich spread. It is great with French fries, burgers, crispy chicken, veggies, fried fish, shrimp, and fish tacos.

Try it with:

  • Key West Coconut Crusted Snapper
  • Pan Fried Chicken Nuggets
  • Pan Fried Chicken Cutlets
  • Fish Omelette
  • Blackened Chicken Tacos
  • Roasted Broccoli, Cauliflower, and Carrots

Tips

  • Use a good mayonnaise. Since mayo is the base of the sauce, the flavor matters.
  • Chill the sauce before serving if you have time. Even 20 minutes in the refrigerator helps the flavors come together.
  • Start with a small amount of your favorite hot sauce. You can always add more, but you cannot take it out.
  • For a thinner sauce, add a little water or lime juice and stir until smooth.

Storage

Store Bang Bang Sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Stir before serving. Do not freeze it. Mayonnaise-based sauces can separate after freezing.
