Hi, I'm Felice, the writer, photographer, and recipe developer behind Cooking in the Keys. I live in Key Largo, Florida, where fresh seafood is part of everyday life.
Before starting this site, I spent years in New York's wholesale food industry.
Grocery sales and marketing
I sold packaged food to major retailers, including Publix, Sprouts Farmers Market, and Whole Foods Market, and worked with national distributors KeHE and UNFI. I helped small food brands tell their story and get their products onto store shelves.
Uncle Steve's Italian Specialties
I served as SVP at Uncle Steve's Italian Specialties, working alongside Steve Schirripa of The Sopranos.
In the kitchen
I worked as a cook at Whole Foods Market in Manhasset, Long Island, and wrote Americans Cook!, a cookbook with more than 300 recipes from all 50 states.
Food photography
I photograph every recipe on this site myself, along with restaurant dishes from around South Florida.
Today
All of that experience goes into Cooking in the Keys: knowing how to pick good ingredients, what's worth the money at the store, and how to keep fresh seafood simple.
