My favorite diet is the Kaufmann Phase 1 Diet from Doug Kaufmann of Know the Cause. If you want to get healthy, this is the eating plan for you!
The diet emphasizes consuming fresh vegetables, healthy proteins and fats, and low-sugar fruits. It encourages a whole foods approach, promoting natural and unprocessed foods.
The Kaufmann Phase 1 Diet eliminates wheat, most dairy products, commercially raised meats, peanuts, corn, toxic oils (canola, corn, vegetable), sugar (feeds all the bugs in your belly), mushrooms, soy, and a few other things.
In their place, you'll eat lots of fresh vegetables, meats from pasture-raised animals, healthy fats, and fish that swim freely in the sea.
I live in Key Largo, Florida, and we have many fish here! Many of my recipes call for seafood because, in the Keys, we catch them and cook them!
Talk about a local food supply!
Try the Phase 1 diet for a few weeks. You have nothing to lose (except aches and pain, inflammation, anxiety, ugly toenail fungus, and a few bad habits). For the full story about why Phase One works, check out Kaufmann Phase One Diet.

Where to Get Fresh Fish
And one more tip: If you need fresh fish, make your way to Key Largo Fisheries. Each morning, you'll find 15 people cleaning freshly caught fish right in the store.
Specify that you're looking for fresh-caught yellowtail from The Keys, emphasizing that it has never been frozen. Yellowtails, being relatively small snappers, can be shipped to you overnight. Trust me, they are exceptionally delicious!
In Key Largo, the shrimp harvested is known as Key West Pink Shrimp. Sold by the pound, these shrimp are exceptionally tasty.
Stone Crab Claws are a seasonal delight available fresh from October through May. Known for their sweet flesh, people from around the world come to the Keys specifically for these claws. Traditionally enjoyed with mustard sauce, they also pair wonderfully with lemon and melted butter.
An additional health note: both the shrimp and crab claws boast a good amount of iodine, which is beneficial for your thyroid.
